Andrea Leadsom Sets Up New HS2 Group Andrea Leadsom, MP for South Northamptonshire held a meeting yesterday (Tuesday) with MP colleagues to discuss how to take the campaign against HS2 forward. Earlier this month the Transport Secretary, Justine Greening MP announced the Governments intention to press ahead with the project. MPs affected and also not affected by the route met in Parliament to discuss how to take the campaign forward. Andrea and colleagues also agreed to form a new anti HS2 group which will be known as the HS2 Compensation and Mitigation Forum. The new group will be made up of MPs from all parties who are sceptical about the HS2 project and will meet regularly to discuss campaign ideas and share information. The Secretary of State for Transport, officials from HS2 Ltd and experts ho have worked on similar projects will be invited to address the group to answer questions and offer advice.

Andrea said, "Our position first and foremost is that we are against this project going ahead because it is a waste of taxpayers money and there are better options available that can be delivered far sooner."

"I am determined to keep the pressure on the Government and to scrutinise this project closely and I hope that this new group will allow us to achieve this."
